‘Fragility of the senses’
45 m of drafting paper, salt, sound (breathing)
Kent Institute of Art & Design, Canterbury. UK
The work involves the use of the five human senses and its perception.
A large spiral was made out of punching holes on drafting and set to the construction of the Gnomonic spiral. Research was carried out in 2 sites in India (Fatehpur Sikri & the temples of Khajuraho) and the Cathedral at Canterbury, England. Various elements of architecture and symbolism were incorporated in the work. The floor was covered with a ton of salt and the viewer was requested to enter the space barefoot. The constant sound of breathing was played in the background.
